What Makes The Christian Life Great

Read 1 Pet. 2:9. We are special, because we are a chosen generation. We are not still on planet earth by accident, for we are here to show forth the praise of Him that has called us out of darkness into His marvelous life. The Christian life is undoubtably great. Let's consider the greatness of the Christ life.

I. There Was A Great Price Provided

(Rom. 5:8). The Father gave the price of His Son to redeem the lost. The price was paid because of the lostness of man. According to God's Word, the wages of sin is death (Rom. 6:23). The price was a passionate price. God gave His only Begotten Son. The price Jesus paid was a penalty erasing price, for He cleanses us from all sin (1 Jn. 1:9). Jesus also gave a permanent price. It will never have to be paid again (Heb. 10:14).

II. There Was a Great Peace Presented

Jesus said in Jn. 14:27, “My peace I give unto you…” Both peace with God and the peace of God are mentioned in the Bible. “Peace with God” comes at salvation (Rom. 5:1), while the “peace of God” comes through an obedient walk (Phil. 4:9). This world is in turmoil with wars and rumors of wars. The peace that Jesus gives sustains us in our Christian journey. Peace also stabilizes us when we feel weak and do not understand (Phil. 4:7).

III. There Is A Great Power To Be Possessed

Power is promised in the Book of Acts (Acts 1:8). Those who are filled with the Spirit of God become unashamed, unafraid witnesses of the Lord Jesus Christ. God's power is not given to make us feel good, but to make us continual, effective witnesses for the Lord. God gives power to us to grow, go, and glow for Him.

IV. There Are Great Prizes Promised

See James 1:12. God has special rewards for those who persevere and are faithful to Him. The rewards we know are the incorruptible crown (1 Cor. 9:25), crown of rejoicing (1 Thess. 2:19,20), crown of righteousness (2 Tim. 4:8), crown of glory (1 Pet. 5:4), and the crown of life. One day our works will have to pass the quality control observations of the Lord Jesus Christ (2 Cor. 4:10). Don't ever let anyone fool you about life; the life of God's people is characterized by greatness.
