What God Wants You To Be

It is important to know what God wants us to be. What others desire for us to be should never matter as much as what the Lord's plan for our life is. God in His Word clearly reveals His divine plan to His children. Let's take a few minutes to look at His divine lan laid out for our lives.

I. Be Saved

God is clear about His desire for the salvation of the lost. The Bible says, “God is not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance” (2 Pet. 3:9). When God says “all”, rest assured that He means “all.” God does not desire that anyone go to Hell. In fact, the Lord has done all He can do to keep men, women, boys and girls out of the awful place of torment. One of the most foolish things a person can do is to turn down God's offer of salvation.

II. Be Submissive

James 4:7 tells us, “Submit yourselves therefore to God.” That word “submit” has the idea of making yourself and your own desires subject to the Lord. It has the idea of putting yourself under the authority of someone else. The only way up with God is the way down. God's people should not hesitate to put themselves under the authority of Christ for He is the eternal and all powerful one.

III. Be Spirit Filled

The command in Eph. 5:18 makes us aware that God wants His people to be Spirit-filled. The idea of the verb “filled” is that we are constantly and continually to be being filled with God's Spirit. Fullness has the idea of control. The secret of the success of the local church is to have members who are constantly being filled with God's Spirit. Nothing is more tragic for an individual, a home or a church than for people to be self‑led rather than Spirit led. The Lord will fill every believer who genuinely desires to be under His control and direction. The filling of the Spirit is more related to service than it is to feeling.

IV. Be A Soul Seeker

Jesus tells us to “preach the Gospel to every creature.” (Mark 16:15) Oh, how intensely we should desire to see other people come to know the same Lord we know in the full pardon and forgiveness of sin. We witness and the Lord does the winning. If we are not telling others about our Lord, we are doing less than we ought to be doing. People are lost and need the Lord.

V. Be A Sure Saint

The Lord wants His people to know they are saved. There is to be no guess work about your salvation. The Epistle of I John was written that we might know. According to 1 Jn. 5:13, John wrote his first epistle that believers might know they have eternal life, and that unbelievers might believe in the Lord Jesus.
